The myth of the torito de pucarr or the pucara bull, tells the story about a bull that was to be sacrificed in order to bring rain to the ancient village people of pucara. On its way up to be sacrificed the bull resisted piercing the side of a mountain with its horn creating a flood of water from the mountain side that sated the needs of the village people. Peru’s Maribel Posso Olivares draws inspiration from that myth, crafting this bull sculpture from ceramic and painting it by hand in metallic colored accents and multicolored floral motifs blending.
