The Nengah Sudarsana Artisan Collection is brought to you by August Grove in Association with National Geographic. This beautiful piece was handcrafted by Nengah Sudarsana in Indonesia. Sitting on its hind legs, a Siamese cat covers its mouth with its paws to speak no evil. Vivid and endearing, the cat is carved by hand from albesia wood by self-taught artist Nengah Sudarsana. He paints the sculpture with acrylics, achieving a lively representation of the cat. About the Artist: Nengah Sudarsana; ”From an early age, they loved natural things – plants, animals, birds or sea life. When they were still quite young they knew they had an ability to translate nature into artful things of beauty. Although they have no formal art training and work purely from my own inspiration and intuition, they know what looks good and what doesn’t look right in a carving. They particularly want to create wildlife and other animal themes in an exact, realistic and original way.
